Musician
Tom’s passion for music started early on when he was given a guitar on his fifth birthday and it wasn’t long before he was playing piano too. He later went on to learn the violin and to study music theory at Goldsmiths College. In 1989, whilst Tom was studying at Chelsea School of Art, he set up Huxley Warner Music, a music production company which went on to be a significant force in music to picture work, especially in advertising. It was during this time that he gained invaluable experience in composition and production, completing dozens of internationally acclaimed adverts and idents, and working with some of the best agencies and directors in the business including Ridley Scott, Tony Kaye and Chris Hartwill. Tom started doing more and more work for artists and bands during this time, including ‘Taka Boom’ and The Ministry of Sound, and when Neneh Cherry asked him to remix some tracks off her album ‘Kootchi’, it heralded a new direction for him in writing, producing and remixing. Tom is now working with some of the most exciting new artists in the industry including The Boy Who Trapped the Sun, Sophie Barker from Zero 7, Jennie Cruse and Nicola Hitchcock.. Tom has also recently written and produced on Molly Beanland’s album for Universal Records and has been working with producers such as Ken Nelson, Spike Stent and Mike Hedges. Aside to his songwriting talents, Tom continues with his music to picture work and scored the award winning and BAFTA nominated film, ‘Everything’, staring Ray Winstone, and recently scored ‘The Spirit’, directed by Joseph Fiennes. He also completed the score for an hour long, music only underwater film called ‘Aquarivision’ for Sky HD which was produced by James Murdoch.
