Tomi Simatupang is at home in many musical fields. The Indonesian-born guitarist, bassist, and percussionist has been involved in Berlin’s anti-folk scene and played in the HKW local series in 2009, among other events. He has immersed himself deeply in traditional Indonesian music and studied under the avant-garde gamelan composer Gutama Soegijo. And he has close contacts in the Berlin jazz scene, from which a large part of his band, That Tomi Simatupang Incarnation, was recruited.
