A.k.a. Anthony Higgins
British manager, compilation/album executive producer, reissue consultant and compiler. In the mid 1990s, Higgins worked with Stephen Budd Management before going on to work with artists such as Koop, Yukimi Nagano, Earl Zinger, Ski Oakenfull, Shawn Lee and DJ Gilles Peterson. Higgins worked with DJ Gilles Peterson to attempt to find and release 1960s and 1970s original recording tapes of lost and often rare British jazz releases that form part of record company Universal Music Group's vast back catalogue, releasing two volumes of Impressed, showcasing artists such as Michael Garrick, The Don Rendell / Ian Carr Quintet, Joe Harriott and Mike Westbrook. Higgins also curated and produced the reissue series Impressed Re-pressed. There was much success, but through changes in Universal staffing and loss of impetus many titles earmarked for reissue as part of the series ended-up instead being contracted to smaller specialist labels for reissue, including BGO Records and Vocalion. Higgins has advised on and written sleeve notes for several reissue labels including Ascensionale, Eating Standing Publishing, seriE.WOC and BBE. In 2007, Higgins worked with Emmylou Harris, producing a live concert film, shot in Los Angeles, titled "Emmylou Harris 10 Commandments of Country". Along with Mike Peden, Higgins co-compiled the compilation "J Jazz: Deep Modern Jazz From Japan 1969-1984" (2018) for BBE and has co-curated the BBE J Jazz Masterclass Series specialising in reissuing rare Japanese jazz from the 1060s to 1980s. Higgins has also worked on several TV documentaries including a number of BBC projects such as 'Jazz Britannia', 'Girls & Boys: Sex and British Pop', 'Seven Ages of Rock', 'Kings of Rock and Roll', and has also written for specialist music and national press.
