Electronic and Rock
Yannick Tinbergen and Bert Zaremba, conjoined musical twins, in and out of bands together since the age of fourteen. And also co-founders of the Geertruida label. Treasure of Grundo was founded in 2010. They took the name from the eighties cartoon Teddy Ruxpin, Grundo being the name of the fictional land the show is set in. But for the band it took on a different meaning. Grundo, like Gonzo, or Gumbo, is a word that means nothing but has over time become essential to this band. Tired of always creating new genres and trying to explain their weird a-typical sound, the word took on the job of not explaining anything at all. Trying to define the band's sound might be tricky, so to give you some idea, it lies somewhere between new wave and synthpop. Because of the often unexpected changes in style and rhythm in the songs, they have also been described as being avant-garde and experimental, with a touch of industrial. The band has never been interested in creating the perfect pop song, but since they don't shun some eighties pop love either, don't be surprised if you will hear some actual verse-chorus-verse structures bursting through their noisy wave-gaze sound every now and then.
