Album US 1990 on Music Of The World label
World (Carnatic)
Trichy Sankaran is a dazzling performer on the double-headed South Indian drum called mrdangam. The pieces on this recording highlight this versatile instrument and also incorporate vina (played by Karaikkuddi Subramaniam), kanjira (frame drum), tamboura and finger cymbals. This is highly rhythmic and pulsating music - an excellent representation of the pure sound and complex nature of South Indian drumming. Produced by Trichy Sankaran and Bob Haddad for Music Of The World. Music Of The World P.O. Box 3620 Chapel Hill, NC 27515-3620 USA
