Trio "Los Ticos"

During the second half of the 40s the world was developed by fever trios and quartets from the success of the trio Los Panchos. Therefore, in 1949, Mario Chacón founded Trío Los Ticos, with the novelty of using a requinto (small and sharp guitar). The requinto were played by Pablo Peñaranda, one of the best Costa Rican guitarists. Paco Brenes was the main voice of Los Ticos, and Mario Chacón, the accompanying guitar. When retired Brenes was replaced by Ronald Alfaro. The trio recorded many of the most important compositions Chacón: Caballito nicoyano , Mi novia linda , Así es mi tierra , Ticas lindas , Boca de sangre , Luna de Costa Rica , Pídeme and other well-liked songs. With the trio Los Ticos, Mario Chacon returned to Mexico in 1950 and made such records for RCA Victor. From this period are the discs Giving The doll and the rumba, the Cuban Ñico Saquito; Crazy about you, Mark Candia, and Piedad, Mario Chacon. By 1965, the trio evolved into what would be called the Joint Rhythmic Los Ticos, with trumpets and saxophones. Unlike the trio, dedicated to boleros, merengues that group also performed, cumbias, guarachas and ballads.
