Band,
Originally formed in 1998, the trio of Weasel – drums, Sam Warren – bass and King Wozza – guitar, have not performed together since they split in Summer 2006 with the exception of a single appearance at the Malcfest free music festival in kent 2012. An offer to play a festival this autumn and the desire to play this music again convinced the trio to reform. Their perhaps dubious past promotional strategy of locking themselves away in a Fenland studio perfecting their craft, rather than ramming themselves down people's throats, means that this band were always a well kept secret, that meant a lot to a few. Anyone that saw this band between 1998 and 2006 couldn't help but be affected by their performances. Playing instrumental rock inspired by prog and jazz, but with the energy of hardcore punk and the sense of fun of a party funk band. No po-faced muso masturbation here. There are now plans to finally release the long-rumoured album they were working on at the time of the split, and perform more shows later in the year. It is quite likely that these shows will feature an expanded line-up with new members in addition to the original trio. These shows will also feature predominantly new material, which they are currently working on. Tunguska Butterfly play instrumental rock inspired by the likes of Faith No More, Primus, King Crimson, Frank Zappa, Napalm Death, Miles Davis and Rush. They have previously been described as: “…making like the hounds of hell tearing the throat out of the ghost of prog-rock.” (Peterborough Evening Telegraph) “Horrible – enough intricate angularity to frighten anyone.” (Kerrang) Artists We Also Like Let's Meet Jesus, Pigshackle, The Display Team, Thumpermonkey Lives!, Trio VD
