Band, *1993 GB
Blues
Since British multi-instrumentalists Two Timers formed their unique two-piece band in Paris, France in 1993 they have surprised many thousands across Europe and beyond with the sheer power of their performance. Soulful vocalist / drummer / harmonica player Sarah James combines instruments with breathtaking ease, her powerful voice reminiscent of Sam Brown or Julie Driscoll. Guitarist Gordon Russell (ex-Geno Washington, ex-Dr Feelgood 1983-1989) seamlessly segs from electric to acoustic, bottleneck to mandolin whilst footstomping an electrified suitcase (played like a bass drum). Whilst drawing parallels with early blues outfits, the energy-driven delivery owes more to John Spencer’s Blues Explosion or Led Zeppelin. Two Timers has performed as concert warm up for such artists and bands as The Corrs, John Mayall, Taj Mahal, Maceo Parker, Joe Satriani, the Stranglers and Status Quo. ● Sarah James – vocals, harmonica, violin, snare drum, cymbal, percussion ● Gordon Russell – acoustic & electric guitars, mandolin, suitcase bass drum
