A.k.a. Timon Stephen John Murray Step Murray Tymon Murray
Violinist, guitarist and keyboardist from England who was once an up and coming young musical talent of the late 60's. During this time he released a pair of singles that have recently appeared on the compilations. In the early 70's he teamed up with a young Joe Strummer and together they busked fleetingly in England and Europe. Tymon was an early influence on Joe Strummer, teaching him to play chords on a guitar among other things. After a solo album in 1976, Tymon helped with the recording of The Clash's Sandinista! LP, in 1980. He wrote, sang, and played violin on the track; "Lose This Skin". In 1982 he released a 2nd solo album called Battle Of Wills, and performed on various tracks of the Clash's final album with their original lineup, Combat Rock. In 1999 he joined Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros, and they released three albums, playing dozens of gigs across the globe. Tymon has also recorded with Ian Hunter and Ellen Foley, as well as contributing his haunting violin to the Black Hawk Down soundtrack/score in 2001. As of March 2006, Tymon is currently performing various gigs with his new band called The Quickening. A CD of their music will be released around the end of August via www.mapmusic.net
