A.k.a. Ulrich Bernhard Gerhard Antonius Mack

German photographer Ulrich B. Mack studied under Prof. Alfred Mahlau at the University of Fine Arts, Hamburg. He became a photojournalist for the magazines Quick and Twen and worked as a photographer for Stern. He won the main prize in the World Press competition in The Hague for his photo documentary Wildpferde in Kenia (Wild Horses in Kenya). Since 1975, he has been professor of visual communication at the technical college in Dortmund, and since 1977, he has been part of the French yearly summer academy at the Abbaye du Gard near Amiens, Picardie. In 1988, he was visiting professor at the College of Communication at Boston University. He received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon in 1994. Further periods at Boston University followed as visiting professor at the School for the Arts in 1995 and artist-in-residence at the College of Fine Arts in 1997. Today, he lives in Hamburg
