A.k.a. Hugh Brannum Lumpy Brannum Mr. Green Jeans
Born in Sandwich, Illinois, 1910. During WW II, played in a U.S. marine band with Bob Crosby. Joined the Four Squires after the war. While with Fred Waring & His Pennsylvanians, Brannum started using his family nickname, 'Lumpy.' Hosted Uncle Lumpy's Cabin on WABC-TV in 1951. Known also for playing Mr. Green Jeans and several other characters on the Captain Kangaroo television show. Died in 1987.
