Unknown Prophets is a local hip hop group composed of Big Jess and MaD SoN. Both are from Northeast Minneapolis and went to Edison High School. They met at school and started playing music, with Mike playing guitar to Jess' songs. They started performing at the Bon Appetit (Dinkytown), where they added DJ Willy Lose when playing a set in 1998. Unknown Prophets classic debut album, "World Premier" (2000), put them on the map in the Twin Cities, especially with the appearances by local favorites Slug, DJ Abilities, and Brother Ali, members of the Rhymesayers crew. In September 2002, the Unkown Prophets formed their own record label, N.E. Time Ent. N.E, and promptly released "Welcome to Northeast", a double-disc album with over 30 tracks. Big Jess and Mad Son have also recently released solo albums that are listed below.
