A.k.a. John Urban Eriksson
Trumpet player and inventor. Urban Eriksson was born on February 14, 1959 in Skarpnäck, Sweden. Between the years 1977 and 1982 he studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. In addition to that he studied for professor James Watson at the Royal Academy of Music in London during the years 1980 and 1981 and for professor James Stamp in Los Angeles in 1983. Since 1982 Urban Eriksson is a member of the Royal Swedish Orchestra. He was one of the founders of The Swedish Brass Quintet and KammarensembleN in Stockholm. Urban Eriksson is also a member of the Drottingholm Baroque Ensemble, with which he has done several recordings, such as The Christmas Oratorio, BWV 248, by Johann Sebastian Bach and Georg Friedrich Händel's Messiah (HWV 56), among others. Besides his musical career he also works as an inventor. He has constructed and developed Hearwig, which is an acoustic hearing protection for musicians in orchestras. He has also developed a piccolo trumpet, specifically for to play on in Johann Sebastian Bach's Brandenburg Concerto, No. 2 in F major, BWV 1047.
