Born 9th October 1960 in Rapla (Estonia). Studied composition under Rene Eespere and graduated from the Tallinn Conservatory in 1985. One of the most influential Estonian composers with Arvo Pärt & Erkki-Sven Tüür, Urmas Sisask has composed many sacred music masterpieces such as Gloria Patri or Magnificat. His work is influenced by astronomy, the solar system & Gregorian chant. He is the brother of the singer & politician Siiri Sisask. Urmas Sisask is also a Roman Catholic; he writes essentially sacred music.
