VCOADSR (pronounced phonetically “vee-see-oh-ay-dee-ess-arr”) is the artist name of Phil Bilsby an producer & performer based in Brighton, UK that has built a reputation, within the modular scene in the UK, of playing unashamed bass heavy dark techno. VCOADSR has been making electronic music since 2009 with his first album 'Movement' released in December 2012, a mixture of straight up and at times raw and wonky techno. In 2013 and then 2014 saw him release two concept albums 'Modular Sessions Vol. 1 & 2' that saw him write, perform and record each track in a single take using only a Eurorack modular synth (and FX pedals) with the idea of creating and performing a complete song using a limited set of tools and removing the ubiquitous DAW from the creative process. These albums saw VCOADSR develop his sound further with a move towards darker techno but also more experimental electronic soundscapes. In 2015 he made the leap from studio production to taking the centre of his studio, 12U Eurorack modular synth & Cirklon sequencer combo, out on the road to play his strain of raw bass leaning techno live. In February 2016 VCOADSR released his next EP 'Who's Watching Too EP' that was a snap shot of his Cirklon powered live set at the end of 2015. During 2016 VCOADSR has continued to develop his live performance style with a move towards improvised techno with a more club oriented focus. Out of these live improvised Techno sets saw the development of his latest release “Serious Lies EP / Minor Truths EP”, released on 22nd April 217, that sees the producer & modular performer push further into the darker & harder side of Techno with this 8 track double EP cassette tape release.
