A.k.a. Vaheed Kaacemy - وحيد قاسمی
Born in 1958 in Afghanistan, singer, composer and music researcher Vaheed Kaacemy hails from a family with a rich background in music. In 1976, along with other musician friends, he founded Shine. The band rose to national fame fusing Afghan folkloric tunes with western style contemporary music. In 1978 Kaacemy began working with the main state-run radio & TV station, where he contributed significantly to the enhancement of Afghan folk music for a number of years, recording a number of popular hits in the process. In the last few years, he has dedicated his time to researching and documenting regional and traditional Afghan music. He currently resides in Canada and continues to perform live internationally.
