A.k.a. Pekka Suvanto
Pekka "Vando" Suvanto (born on November 22, 1947 in Jyväskylä, Finland) is a Finnish drummer, percussionist and singer. Suvanto started his career in the band called Mirages in 1962. The band was disbanded in 1965 after which he joined the Steeples, but the band didn't succeed and they split up in 1966. The next band, Silvery (3) lasted until 1969, although they made a comeback circa 20 years later. Suvanto moved to Helsinki in the beginning of 1970, and he played there in two bands, Mosaic and Orfeus (5). After moving to Oulu for a short time to take care of his non-military service, he moved back to Helsinki. This time he mainly played in backing bands of different artists, including Hector (6), Muska, Rauli Badding Somerjoki. He also played in the bands of Tumppi Varonen and Pelle Miljoona. He also played in Mescalero, "Sahti" and Threshold (7). In the beginning of 1980's also Vando Suvanto JNE was founded, and they released a couple of singles through Johanna. Suvanto's recent bands include Hottoe and Sue Van Doe. Predecessor of Sue Van Doe was a band called Niggers (1984-1986). Suvanto is also one of the founders of Osuuskunta Riskirecords, a record label in Jyväskylä. Other founders are guitarist Veikko Nyberg, Juha Hurme (director) ja Heikki Herva (actor).
