American jazz trombonist. Born : January 06, 1907 in Venice, Illinois. Died : May 18, 1979 in Los Angeles, California. Vernon played with Frankie Trumbauer (1925 -'26), in variety groups in the late 1920s and 1930s included Jean Goldkette (1928), Benny Meroff, Mezz Mezzrow (1937), Benny Goodman (1937-1940), Artie Shaw (1940-'41), Jan Savitt, Muggsy Spanier (1941-'42), "Casa Loma Orchestra", Sidney Bechet, again with Benny Goodman (1950s), Tony Parenti (1963) and as a studio musician into the early 1970s.
