Album US 1906 on Edison Gold Moulded Records label
Jazz and Pop (Ragtime)
Descriptive plantation medley. This title was recorded at least 3 or 4 times for Edison by either Vess L. Ossman or Ruby Brooks, and all were released with the same catalog number. Vess L. Ossman first recorded it in 1897 for release on a Brown Wax cylinder. Ruby Brooks appears to have re-recorded it 1902 for release on an early style Black Wax Gold Moulded cylinder. Vess L. Ossman then re-recorded it twice more, in 1904 and 1909, to be released as either Edison Gold Moulded Records #2608 or Edison Standard Record (Black Wax Cylinder) #2608, respectively. The announcement on this release credits Ossman, but it is not clear whether this is the 1904 or 1909 version.
