Works on This Recording Tancredi by Gioachino Rossini Written: 1813; Italy Date of Recording: 07/1995 Venue: Studio 1, Bavarian Radio, Munich Length: 171 Minutes 51 Secs. Language: Italian Notes: This was the finale used for the original production in Venice on February 6, 1813. It opens with the same Tancredi scene ("Dove son io?...Fra quil orror...") and chorus ("Regna il terror nella Città...) as in the Ferrara production. The remainder of the Venetian finale, however, contains different material: secco recitative for Tancredi, Amenaide and Argiro ("Fra Saraceni io dunque son?...), a scene for Tancredi and chorus ("Qual suon - che miro..."), another secco recitative for for the same three characters with Isaura ("Ah! ch'ei si perde!...") and a new final scene ("Fra quei soavi palpiti").
