Soviet and Russian conductor, tuba player, music teacher, and soloist. (8 July 1933, Novoaleksandrovka, Menzelinsky, Tatarstan - 3 December 2001, St. Petersburg) He was principal conductor of The Kirov Opera and Ballet and was a professor at Leningrad Conservatory. He was inducted as an Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1972) and People's Artist of the RSFSR (1977).
