A.k.a. James Vincent "Vince" Wallace
Vince Wallace is a jazz saxophonist from Oakland, CA who claims to have written the original version of 'Bombay Calling' in 1962, registered in ' 66. This Oriental sounding piece paste whole in the burgeoning hippie scene of Haight-Ashbury, where it's A Beautiful Day-violinist David LaFlamme learned the tune from him personally. There is a soup dress-version included in 1967 by The Orkustra, with Bobby Beausoleil (afterwards a member of the infamous Manson Family and still behind bars for his part in the Sharon Tate case) and David LaFlamme on a Swiss vinyl lp released in 2006: Light Shows For The Blind (RD Records). It would be nice if there's a an older version, certainly for him, but the only version came top driving so far, is the one from 1975 of his AMP-lp Vince Wallace Plays Vince Wallace.
