Born 10th January 1911 in Nijmegen. Netherlands. Died 22th April 1974. Novelist and journalist. Lived for most of his life in the Dutch East Indies, and after its independece, Indonesia. In 1955 he returned to Netherlands. His work deals with the culture of the Dutch in the Dutch East Indies (the "Indo's").
