Vincent Ruiz (1990) is a Swiss musician and composer. He studied double bass with Larry Grenadier, Bänz Oester and Patrice Moret. He gained his Bachelor at the Musik Akademie Basel and was awarded the Leenaards Cultural Grant shortly after, in 2015, as an encouragement to further his composition work. In 2018, he graduated from the Conservatory of Copenhagen where he completed a MMus (Master of Music) in Music Performance. Ruiz is more known for being the double bass player of minimalist/post-jazz group Plaistow (2012 - 2017) but has also performed or collaborated with a vast array of musicians and improvisers from various horizons such as Nicole Hogstrand, Nicolas Masson, Jacob Sacks, Colin Vallon, Basel Rajoub, Emanuele Maniscalco, Cyril Bondi, Greta Eacott's G-Bop Orchestra, Gamut Kollektiv, Tapiwa Svosve, Jorge Rossy, Oklou, Ryota Miyake (a.k.a Sparrows), Stephan Bruner, Daudi Matsiko, Michael Pisaro, etc. Since 2017, he is a member of the Insub Meta Orchestra. His solo works focuses on rather minimalistic music that experiment with repetition and the interaction between timbre and resonances.
