Band, GB
Punk band from Bradford (UK), formed in June 1979 by drummer Haq Nawaz Qureshi with bass player Barry Jepson, guitarist Michael Isles and vocalist Mick Brady. Played support for The Clash in Bradford (29 January 1980), then Brady left and was replaced by Gary O'Connell. In January 1981 Violation recorded a demo tape but broke up the following month when first guitarist Michael Isles and then singer Gary O'Connell left the band. Qureshi and Jepson carried on with new guitar player David Burroughs and began to rehearse with new vocalist Ian Astbury, changing their name to Southern Death Cult.
