Originally, this project was started by Dominik Sonders as a one-off collaboration between several musicians participating in the 'A Lake Of Ghosts: The Long Shadow Of My Dying Bride' tribute compilation. The result of this collaboration, a cover of MDB's "She Is the Dark" also featuring JS from Estrangement and SVC from Until Death Overtakes Me, became a bonus track on said compilation. Vita Dolorosa will remain active as a platform for piano-based cover versions of Doom Metal songs with changing collaborators.
