A.k.a. Vladimir Ivanovich Rebikov (Влади́мир Ива́нович Ре́биков)
Late-Romantic/20th century Russian composer and pianist (May 31, 1866 - Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, Russia — October 1, 1920 - Yalta, Crimea, Ukraine). Rebikov is a founding figure in Russian modernism and a pioneer in the use of the whole-tone scale. He studied piano with his mother, and completed a course in linguistics before entering the Moscow Conservatory; there he studied music theory with Nikolai Klenovsky, a student of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. He continued to teach and play in concerts in various parts of Russia and Europe. He settled in Yalta in 1909 and composed various piano pieces and stage works until his death in 1920.
