Band,

Volta Do Mar is a Portuguese term for “Turn of the Sea.” The band was formed in 1999 (two years before Mars Volta, thank you). Their last full length album, At the Speed of Light or Day, was recorded at night in a Chicago steel wire processing plant (not kidding). In support of it, the chaotic quartet toured the US and Canada twice, including a tour with MURDER BY DEATH, whom they also released a split album with. On the backs of their hard rocking torsos, the the VDM buzz spread from Chicago outward.
