Musician / Composer / Producer of Rock
The guitarist Wael Daou is from Belém. He studied with music masters such as guitarist, composer and producer Ziza Padilha and Lebanese guitarist Elias Njeim, with whom he developed great instrumental skills. His influences go through Arab Oriental music (ancestral heritage of his family), erudite music, death metal and heavy metal, and jazz. Among his idols are guitarists Jason Becker, Allan Holdsworth and Frank Gambale. In erudite music he quotes names Dvorak, Borodin, Mussorgsky, Chopin, Paganini. And in heavy metal, bands like Death, Iced Earth, Savatage and Metallica are part of the musical universe of the instrumentalist. Daou recorded in the first half of 2013 his first work as solo guitarist, the CD Ancient Conquerors. This work presents an innovative proposal in the instrumental rock genre in Belém, with soils accompanied by a base band and an orchestra. Conceptually, Ancient Conquerors has taken shape from the way Daou sees the world, from its Arab roots, the taste for history and its values. For him, this work represents a musical maturation that has taken place in recent years. "This work shows my many influences, in addition to expressing, through music, my thoughts on humanity," explains the musician. The style proposed by the guitarist mixes this eclecticism with a lot of musicality and sophistication, without giving way to melodious and intricate forms. It is something very original, that comes to add value to the music made in Pará or anywhere. It is seen that the album brings a message and, even being heavy, pleases the most demanding ears, even of those who are not used to more extreme genres like death metal. His history with music began at the age of 12 while living in Lebanon, there he experienced the diversity of Arabic music and soon formed his first band called Redemption. At 17 he returned to Belém and studied at the conservatory Carlos Gomes in free courses, he studied for two years in music at UEPA (he left, he needed to work), and he founded his band ALMA COG, a band that received great recognition in Pará music scene and organizer of two festivals in the city I Prog of the Soul and Alma Prog fest. Currently Wael Daou teaches, produces music in partnership with Legacy Studio, and is recording his next CD that will be called SAND CRUSADER, with 7 unreleased tracks to be released in July this year. His book titled "Have Modes" will be released in April and consists of an approach to guitarist of the Greek modes and modes of the minor melodic and harmonic. Wael was pleased to participate in the collection in honor of Paulo Scroeber with the song Xerxes, in addition to the compilations of Hell Divine magazine and Heavy And Hell press and to compete in a popular vote made by Roadie Crew magazine of best guitarist of Brazil next to Names.
