Album DE 2010 on Hammer Music label
Electronic, Folk, World and (Ambient, Downtempo, New Age)
"Two for Green – Bulgaria" is an album in a series of collaborations between Walter Christian Rothe and Herwig Duchateaux (ex-Scooter drummer). The concept recording, a journey through the Balkan region, its culture and folklore, contains lots of world music and ethnic influences, which remind of Enigma, Deep Forrest, which is mostly due to the use of choir sound pads. But most of all, "Two for Green – Bulgaria" is an accesible and highly melodic piece of work built out of commercial themes, complex arrangements and symphonic anthems that evoke a sense of wonder and joy as they go by. Of all 11 well-executed tracks, the very nice choir sounds and deep atmosperes really impress on "The Gathering", creating a sound world of wonder that’s just beyond words, while "Deep Sea" stands out due to its grand, orchestral realm and dynamic breaks. For me, "Coloured Waters" is the only weak track found here, due to its jazzy feel created by soft brushes and loungy sax-sounds. All in all "Two for Green – Bulgaria" is an enjoyable album that grows even more after repeated listens.
