Walter Sobczak began his career in music in the early 1980's as bassist for Toronto post-punk band Sturm Group which broke up in 1989. While this was going on, Sobczak began his studio career at Wellesley Sound Studios in downtown Toronto as an assistant engineer. Experiences included being an assistant engineer on the Dirty Dancing album. Sobczak moved on to become an engineer at the same studio in which he engineered Michie Mee's first single for First Priority/Atlantic, a single from Maestro Fresh Wes' first album , Dream Warriors, Scott B. Sympathy, Barenaked Ladies Yellow Tape and Fifth Column. He received an RIAA multi-platinum sales award for his work as an assistant engineer on Dirty Dancing, and CRIA gold or platinum sales awards for his work as an engineer on Dream Warriors, Maestro Fresh-Wes, and Club Cutz Vol.4 albums. Sobczak moved to production around the same time he took the freelance route and produced/co-produced Dream Warriors, Monster Voodoo Machine, Fifth Column and others. In the early-mid-nineties, Sobczak was a founder, writer, musician, and producer, and the engineer of Virgin artist and later Attic artist Raggadeath. The band broke up in 1997. Specializing in analog recording in great live rooms, he was chief engineer at The Studio at Puck's Farm 2000-2012, and now works out of Revolution Recording in downtown Toronto.
