Walther Klæbel
Producer of Jazz
Danish musician, manager, producer and club owner. Was the washboard player of Peruna Jazzmen when in 1963 he started the jazzclub "Basin Street" in Dahlerupsgade, Copenhagen, and later Folk Club Of Denmark in the same venue. The folk club was the meeting point for future folk stars of Denmark like Povl Dissing, Benny Holst and Cæsar - but also the place where touring US folk and blues musicians would play, e.g. Ravi Shankar, Sonny Boy Williamson (2), Sleepy John Estes, Memphis Slim and Champion Jack Dupree. Later he founded the Hørekiks label. Klæbel died from cancer in 2003
