Trumpet / Flugelhorn - Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Wayne Baker was born in Halifax and received his initial music training through the Halifax All-City Music Program. After graduating high school he moved to Toronto to study at Humber College. During this time he was fortunate to record two albums and tour Europe with the top band. He free-lanced in Toronto for 10 years playing any and all kinds of music. He is a founding member of the celebrated latin group Manteca, and has performed behind a wide variety of performers ranging from jazz stars such as Patti Page, Mel Torme, and Rosemary Clooney to pop icons such as Natalie Cole, Dionne Warwick, and The Spinners. From 1978-1988 Wayne played trumpet for the Charlottetown Festival, touring the country 3 times with Anne of Green Gables. In 1983-84 he was a featured performer in the hit show SWING!. Since returning to Halifax, Wayne has been a teacher in the public schools. He continues to write for and perform with a wide variety of groups. Currently with THE SOUNDS OF MOTOWN (2015)
