Single US 1967 on Reena Records label
Rock (Psychedelic Rock)
Second release by the teen quartet from La Crescenta. The band would have another crack at "Who Am I?", completely overhauling it and retitling it as "What Am I?". That appeared on their fourth and final 45 (Reena 1030), where it relegated Back Street Thoughts (same recording as this 45) to the B-side. Following this release, Reena label owner Elizabeth Horton (hence the "EH" in the matrix code) received a "cease and desist" letter from RCA on behalf of their same-named band from Florida. After much deliberation, someone came up with Blue Plate Special and this was announced in the local press, However, some were not happy about being named after a low-cost meal ... and when their next release appeared in May 1968 (Reena 1026) it was as American Zoo. Both sides appear on the 2014 retrospective LP/CD.
