A.k.a. Wenzeslaus Thomas Matiegka Václav Tomáš Matějka
Wenzeslaus Matiegka was an Austrian composer / guitarist and educator. He was born in 1773. As a child, he received training in singing, violin and piano. In 1788 he expanded his musical knowledge by studying harmony and writing. He also trained as a lawyer at the University of Prague from 1791. After learning to play the cello, Wenzeslaus devoted himself to music. He died in Vienna in 1830, leaving a wife and six children. Among his musical compositions that survived are several duets and trios for the guitar.
