In the 1920s and 30s they worked with artists including Fletcher Henderson, Louis Armstrong, Bessie Smith, and the Mezz Mezzrow-Sidney Bechet Quintet, as well as performing at musical comedies, vaudeville, travelling minstrel shows and revues.
