Band, US
Alternative and Rock
Experimental rock band formed in Portland, Oregon in October 2005 while founding members were attending David Douglas High School. The band has been subject to numerous lineup and genre changes, has toured extensively through the US, Europe, Australia, and Canada, and has released numerous albums and EPs through their own label Gnar Tapes, as well as fellow DIY labels Burger Records and Marriage Records, among others. The band is also well known for their prolific cassette output, with releases being issued often multiple times a year for over a decade. The band relocated to Los Angeles in January 2014 where they continue to operate Gnar Tapes. The band, whose individual members are also prolific solo artists, were the subject of a Comedy Central digital-only special entitled 'Gnarnia' which premiered in July 2018 and was set at the Gnar Tapes record store in Cypress Park, Los Angeles. The store has since closed and moved to Discogs.
