First Country Music group from Arizona to be recorded. Formed by members of a farming family from Nutrioso near Springerville in the White Mountains of Arizona, the ensemble consisted of E. Curtis Maxwell on violin, Curtis' brother Frank L. Maxwell and Curtis' daughter Billie Maxwell (a.k.a. Mrs. Alvin Chester Warner) on guitar, and Curtis' son Marion F. Maxwell on banjo. Having played locally, the group successfully auditioned at a Victor recording session in El Paso, TX, on July 2, 1929 and recorded four songs under the name White Mountain Orchestra.
