Jazz and Pop
Who Cares How Long You Sink was an American experimental folk/freeform jazz ensemble, originally established by a Chicagoan songwriter and bassist Jason Ajemian in 2001. This large band with a rotating cast of musicians is devoted to the slower aesthetic of musical movement and attempts to make music move at a pace that closer represents the natural processes, such as the motions of tides and glaciers. Most material is played during the musicians’ natural inhales or exhales and not to an external clock. Who Cares How Long You Sink released their debut self-titled album on Lucky Kitchen in 2004. Their second album, Folk Forms Evaporate Big Sky, was recorded with a larger line-up of 30+ musicians featuring Jason Ajemian's folk songs and vocal experiments.
