American jazz trombonist who also occasionally doubled on guitar. Born : November 18, 1894 in Shawnee Mound, Missouri. Died : June 30, 1983 in Newbury Park, California. Played with the Paul Whiteman Orchestra, Bix Beiderbecke, Hoagy Carmichael, Tommy Dorsey, Bing Crosby, Frankie Trumbauer, Jack Hylton and others.
