21 July 1947 – 3 March 1981 The son of William S. Burroughs, and like his father a writer. Sadly he died long before his father. He had early problems with amphetamines and alcohol, and the alcohol killed him. Although he is commonly known as William S. Burroughs Jr, he is technically William Seward Burroughs III: the name skipped a generation, from the inventor William Seward Burroughs (January 28, 1857 – September 14, 1898) to his grandson the famous novelist, and thence to the most unfortunate one to bear that name.
