Musician of Rock
Danish musician and painter (1945-2005). Born into a religious family, he's first musical experience was playing trombone with a Salvations Army's band. In 1965 he was accepted at the Academy of Arts in Copenhagen, but didn't follow classes much as he got into the late 60's hippie-movement - including the drug experiencing. In 1967 he joined Steppeulvene in the bands second line-up, playing guitar and violin as well as singing. After Steppeulvene folded, together with Hasse Levy he formed Green Grass (2). In 1971 he - as popular at the time - travelled to India. Drug addiction and mental illness led to a three year stay at the psychiatric hospital Skt. Hans from 1974 to 1977. Once out the hippie-era was over and Olsen never found solid ground in his life again, living a life with mental illness. During the 80's he took up painting, and in his last years became a popular and very productive - some say too productive - painter. In 2004 he was hospitalized, diagnozed with cancer. Hi died in 2005.
