Tanzanian song-writer, singer and guitarist. Most famous as founder and leader of Orchestra Simba Wanyika with his brother George Peter Kinyonga. Born in Tanzania in 1947. He and his brother joined Jamhuri Jazz Band in Tanga, Tanzania in 1966. In 1970/1971 the brothers moved to Arusha, Tanzania, and formed Arusha Jazz (with a third brother William Peter Kinyonga and others). Late in 1971 the band relocated to Kenya and changed their name to Orchestra Simba Wanyika. Despite two major splits and various members leaving the band, Wilson Peter stayed with and led Orchestra Simba Wanyika until his death. He died August 7th 1995 in Nairobi, Kenya, aged 48.
