Wir Getier (german We Animals) began when .the plipil (peace) collective. by Leo Pill, Julian Radam, Katharina Kapsamer and friends played a gig at the Daimler's Bar in Salzburg, Austria. They got suddenly interrupted and thrown out by the bartenders, because of their very progressiv and (allegedly) annoying sound. One of their listeners, a guy called Peter Wetzelsberger was very cross about this and invited the group for a spontanous Record session in the studio of free radio station Radiofabrik Salzburg. The results of this night came out later as Bootleg-EP Radiofabrik Overnite Session 2013. After that Wetzelsberger joined Pill, Radam and Kapsamer forming another group called Wir Getier named by a song of Wetzelsberger's former band Die Bucht. They also choose personal animal names: Leo Pill (Vocals, Guitar) became Frettchen, Julian Radam (Guitar, Bass, Electronics) became Fuchs, Peter Wetzelsberger (Vocals, Electronics, Percussion) became Bär and Katharina Kapsamer (Guitar, Vocals) became Waschbärin. Guestmusicians also get their own animal names. In their first year they had no specific focus and mixed experimental sounds with World Music, Trash rock and Hamburger Schule, using english, german and portuguese Lyrics.
