Formed in December 1986 in the south of France, in Antibes, Witches recorded first demo tape "Silly Symphony" in March 1988 witch sold 600 copies. The second demo tape "Aggressive Soap" (January 1989) sold 300 copies. These two demos were recorded in a 4-track. After several shows in France and Switzerland, the band moved to Paris in 1991. "Lost Of The Precious", a 4-track demo tape, was recorded in August of 1991 and was distributed by Dutch label Foundation 2000 in quantity of 500 copies. In May 1993, the band recorded another demo tape "Wind Of Time" (1000 copies produced). As the precedent one, it was recorded in a 16-track studio and released with a colored cover. In May 1994, Witches recorded their first album "3.4.1" in German studio called MasterPlan. It was released only on CD for mainly promotion, was distributed by the band itself in France and elsewhere, but also by Relapse Records and Wild Rags Records in the United States. After sending it to different labels, the band signed with Abathrash, the sub-label of Boucherie Productions. The album was out by Abathrash on February 1995 and was distributed by PIAS in France and in Belgium. After a promotional tour (radios, TV like MCM Channel etc) as well as some shows in Paris (La Locomotive, Le Gibus and L'Elysée Montmartre) and in the rest of France (Lille, Tours, Limoges etc), Witches did a "break" for a second album. Result was "7" album, which was recorded at the end of 2007 and was distributed in all french shops in March 2008 by Multicom City Distribution. Also many shows were done, with bands like Entombed, ADX, Blaspheme, No Return (2), Killers (4), Still Square, Demon Eyes, RBO, Evil One, Uncorporal, Lost Era, Sykhlone, Necropsy, Orakle, Würm, Dreadful Silence and more. Witches split-up in 1999 and reformed in the mid-2000. Currently guitarist/vocalist and original member of the band Sybille Colin-Tocquaine is writing songs for a new album, looking for a label to release it and also looking for new musicians to fill up the ranks.
