No-wave/post-punk Y Front (Scott Faust on guitar/vocals, Rich Labrie on drums, Mike Popovich on bass & Chris Scarpino on synth/guitar) formed in 1979 and lasted up until late '81 when the band split into two groups, The XX Committee (Chris and Scott) and The Story Of Failure (originally Mike, Rich, and Scott). The XX Committee was the experimental group and Story Of Failure was the song based group. Y Front's sound was like a primitive mix of PIL, Dome, and Pere Ubu. The band never released anything while they were active up until Frans de Waard's MOLL label, released the The Final Session as tour merchandise for the 2012 Tobacconists tour.
