A.k.a. Anca Elena Petcu

A Romanian artist born in Galați. She recently signed with Romanian label Global Records (18). Since I was a child I was fascinated by the magic power of being on a stage….I was amazed by the flickering lights, so many eyes looking at me, the multitude of sounds and those powerful emotions that took me over. My first interaction with this artistic environment came as a ballet student who was part of big shows created on classic pieces. This is how my parents succeeded to get rid of me for a while because I was full of energy and they just couldn’t handle it. Then I discovered music in various genres and I must admit that I fell in love with hip hop, rnb, soul and gospel music. My first performances took place in front of the mirror with my mother’s spray for a microphone, the classic start for a singer. Throughout the years I’ve been part of many projects with different flavors: pop, jazzy, electro or even world music, underground or mainstream. All these projects have helped me grow and evolve as an artist and as a live performer as well, and made me realize who I really was and what I wanted to do. One of the most intense live experiences I’ve ever had was my appearance at The Voice, the Romanian edition. It was the moment when I chose to deliver myself to the public like never before. It was a turning point in my life when I decided to embrace all my fears and let people see me and hear me in a more complex way. My first breakthrough after The Voice was my collaboration with Vanotek on his single My Heart is Gone. Then I released my first single Jungle as Yanka, signing with Global Records (18). I always create or write something in my notebook, I record an idea on my phone and work on something new in the studio with different talented producers who inspire me or practice on my live performance act with my band. I am always surrounded by music. Now you might say it isn’t much, but you know what….. I prefer to fill up this page with all that is going to come from now on and I’m looking forward to sharing all the steps of my journey with you.
