Born May 12, 1925, St. Louis, Missouri, USA. Died September 22, 2015, Montclair, New Jersey, USA. Major League Baseball player and manager. As catcher for the New York Yankees, Berra won three MVP awards, was selected for 18 all-star games, and played on 10 world championship teams in the 1940s, '50s and '60s. Berra was elected to baseball's Hall of Fame in 1972. In addition to his baseball career, he is well known for many unique turns of phrase, including "It ain't over till it's over."
