Yumi Murakami is a Norwegian-Japanese flautist, born in Oslo in 1982. She was educated at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris. She finished her Master´s degree in Music Performance in 2010. She lives in Oslo and works as a freelance musician in Norwegian orchestras and ensembles. She has participated in festivals and courses for new music such as the Impuls Festival, Darmstadt Ferienkurse, The Ultima Festival and Venezia Biennale among others. As a performer of contemporary music she is dedicated to exploring new techniques and sounds on her instrument and performs and commissions new works for both chamber music and solo flute.
