Yuri Spitsyn (b. 1961) is a Russian-American composer, electronic musician, software developer and songwriter from Moscow, co-founder of the Theremin Center, research instructor and technical director at the Dartmouth College, Massachusetts (2003–2007). As a researcher, Yuri is primarily interested in music programming languages, interactive music, new forms of music education, and VR technologies. He participated in various international collaborative performances, including distributed radio-concerts TOUCHLESS (1997) and TOUCHLESS II (1998) with Lana Aksenova, Günther Gessert, Christof Kurzmann, Pedro López, Elisabeth Schimana, Andrei Smirnov, Andrew Garton, Olga Milanich and Sergio Messina and performances of International Theremin Orchestra. Yuri Spitsyn had been performing at such venues, as Ars Electronica Center, Central Conservatory Of Music, Beijing, DOM Cultural Centre, Kunsthalle Krems, Melkweg, Amsterdam, Moscow Conservatory, Porgy & Bess, Steim, and Tonic (2). Spitsyn gave interactive performances for radio baton, Power Glove, Kyma and other innovative instruments. He also composed music for computer games, including Lethal Speed (1997) and Startris (1999).
